WHAT TO EAT
Tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms
Tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms is a typical autumn dish prepared with fresh pasta, usually homemade, and seasoned with local porcini mushrooms. This is the typical dish to prepare for a Sunday lunch with the whole family.
Castagnaccio
Castagnaccio, or baldino or pattona, is a typical dessert of peasant origin prepared with chestnut flour and enriched with raisins, pine nuts, nuts and sometimes rosemary.
Polenta with wild boar
The strong flavor of wild boar gives a unique taste to polenta, which can also be combined with other types of meat. It should be remembered that the cooking of wild boar meat, which must first be marinated for a long time, is long because of its hardness.
MUST-SEE
San Godenzo Abbey
The name comes from Saint Gaudentius, a hermit who had retired to these mountains to lead a life of prayer. In his name a Benedictine abbey was built at the beginning of the 11th century around which the first houses developed. From 1944 San Godenzo as well as much of Upper Mugello was invested by the Gothic Line, and was entirely mined except for the Abbey.
