Meiling Scenic Area (梅嶺風景區)

Tainan: All you need is a Good Friend and a Full Tank of Gas

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Meiling Scenic Area (梅嶺風景區) Meiling is an alluring tourist site that draws visitors in with its extensive history and stunning scenery. During the time of Japanese rule, it was formerly known as Banana Hill and was given that name because of the numerous banana plantations in NanXi Village. After the Japanese rule, the village head led a remarkable transformation as villagers replaced the banana plantation with beautiful plum trees. The mountain now flourishes with a breathtaking display of white plum blossoms, enchanting visitors and earning it the name Meiling, or Plum Hill.

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THIS PLACE

Different views are available year-round in the Meiling Scenic Area, which is known as Tainan's backyard. It maintains the largest plum tree area in Taiwan, therefore, it is also famous for its plum product. Visitors can have a good time farming here by making their own plum or plum wine. Experienced gourmets come to this location to savor a pot of the local delicacy-plum chicken accompanied by the plum-snowy scenery. The hiking trails are a great option for visitors to walk off their local plum cuisine. Meiling's stunning views and delicious food make it a perfect choice for every tourist.

THIS PLACE IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE

Historic sites are what makes Tainan famous. The natural environment in Tainan is also truly sublime, but only a few tourists are aware of it. The Meiling Scenic Area, the backyard of Tainan, has about 20,000 purple glory trees and nearly 1,000 mountain cherries covering the entire mountain. The rich natural resources allow tourists to experience a variety of activities throughout the four seasons. The plum and camellia are in full blossoming in winter and spring. In the summer night, green glowing fireflies slowly spread out along the trail. Autumn is a time of year when tourists can enjoy fruit-picking.
