What We Love About This Place

The Leonardo da Vinci Science Centre allows you to see exhibitions and expositions, which results in broadening the horizons of children, students and academic staff of the university. In the Centre, we can learn the secrets of the human body, which allows us to maintain physical and mental fitness. It presents five human life activities (breathing, heartbeat, reaction to stimuli, maintaining an upright posture of the body and nutrition) that keep the body in a state of biological balance. The building has an eye-catching, bright red façade with geometric windows from the side of the main road, but from the garden side it is glazed. Walking around the area, we can enter the green roof of the building, where the telescope is located. On September 7-8, 2024, the Leonardo da Vinci Science Centre celebrated its 10th birthday!

This Place is Important Because

The Centre is a unique modern facility offering opportunities to learn more about the Italian master and the idea of ideal proportions of the human body at a stand dedicated to the "Vitruvian Man". Young people and children can conduct scientific experiments while learning the secrets of nature. Teachers, on the other hand, have the opportunity to use modern and innovative methods of education for the youngest, which are definitely different from those at school. There are also conferences and scientific workshops for children and young people – conducted in fully equipped laboratories by qualified educators. There is a restaurant and hotel rooms next to the facility, which complement the facility's offer. Next to the center there is an experiment garden, where everyone can independently conduct a number of scientific experiments at special stations. On the grounds of the Regional Science and Technology Centre, we will also find a restored, beautiful palace built in the 17th century for Jan Branicki. In the 1920s, the building was adapted into an educational institution and for many years housed an agricultural school. In 2010, when the idea of creating a Science and Technology Centre in this place arose, the palace was renovated and can now be visited or its rooms can be rented for conferences.

Special Tips

Leaving Chęciny towards Kraków on the S7 route, we enter Podzamcze, where the Leonardo Da Vinci Science Centre is located. We can recognize it by its historical gate and linden alley, as well as by the historical palace adapted to new functions. In the background, the modern building of the centre, integrated into the terrain and blended into the surroundings, reflects the entire surroundings in its glazing.
