Sembe Lecco

Mayor Sembe Lecco, a historical figure of the city of Bertoua, was the first mayor of the city elected in the 70s. He is a pioneer who contributed to the design of the city of Bertoua, He is recognized for being a tireless worker and always listening to his people. To honor his memory the City Council of Bertoua to baptize a public garden in his honor.

The fufu

Fufu is a dough-like food of West African cuisine. It is made by mixing and pounding equal portions of boiled cassava with green plantain or cocoyam, or by mixing cassava/plantains or cocoyam flour with water and stirring it on a stove. Its thickness is then adjusted to personal preference, and it is eaten with broth-like soups.

The ndolé

Ndolé is a Cameroonian dish consisting of stewed nuts, ndoleh (bitter leaves indigenous to West Africa), and fish or beef. The dish may also contain shrimp. It is traditionally eaten with plantains, bobolo (a Cameroonian dish made of fermented ground manioc or cassava and wrapped in leaves), etc.

The monument Sembe Lecco, erected in the park that bears his name, is a realistic representation of the pioneer that the city of Bertoua knew.

The king Mbartoua cave

The cave of King Mbartoua is an important place of pilgrimage of the Gbaya people, here the King died. Every year the Gbaya initiators make sacrifices in the cave to purify the city of Bertoua.

Rotary Garden

The Rotary Garden is an attraction in the city of Bertoua: this garden with its green space offers its visitors a restaurant, a relax area and playgrounds for children. It was built by the City Council of Bertoua in 2021.
