Bosnia and Herzegovina: Timeless Landscapes, Where Rivers and Bridges Echo Resilience and Rebirth
Bosnia and Herzegovina: A Land of History, Nature, and Cultural Harmony
Bosnia and Herzegovina lies at the heart of the Balkans, a land of mountains, rivers, and rich history. From the emerald waters of the Neretva River to rolling hills and historic villages, this country offers a stunning blend of natural wonders and cultural treasures. In Sarajevo, often called the “Jerusalem of Europe,” centuries of cultural convergence are evident in the city’s architecture, bridges, and traditions.
At the center of the exhibition is the Sarajevo Cube, the official souvenir of Stari Grad (Old Town) Sarajevo. This unique object captures the cultural and historical heritage of the city in an elegant and unexpected form. When opened, the cube reveals miniature representations of the Cathedral Bell Tower, the Minaret of Bey’s Mosque, the Orthodox Church Tower, and the Old Synagogue. These structures symbolize the harmony of Sarajevo’s diverse faiths and traditions, where diversity is embraced as an essential part of its identity.
Each Sarajevo Cube is crafted from four local woods, symbolizing the cultural unity of Sarajevo’s communities. Inspired by a sugar cube or rahat lokum—traditional elements of hospitality—the cube reflects Sarajevo’s custom of welcoming guests with coffee and sweets. Its geometric design unites different shapes, just as the city’s communities come together to form a harmonious whole.
