Cathedral of St. Paul

Odessa: "Architecture is the music frozen in the stone" Friedrich Schelling

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The reconstruction of the Cathedral of St. Paul in Odessa was designed by architect Hermann-Karl Scheurembrandt. Unlike its predecessor, which adhered strictly to classical style, the new cathedral incorporates elements of Gothic and Romanesque architecture. The cathedral holds a significant connection to Teofil Danilovich, the father of the renowned pianist Svyatoslav Richter. Danilovich taught at the Odessa Conservatory and served as the cathedral's organist, deeply influencing its cultural and musical legacy.
