The Church of St. John the Baptist in Zagość holds the distinction of being the first foundation of the Order of the Hospitallers in Poland. In the mid-12th century, Prince Henryk Sandomierski invited the order to establish themselves here. However, the monastery fell into ruin after 1317. Despite this, the eastern part of the original medieval church remains preserved in the current parish church of St. John the Baptist. This small yet significant temple, constructed from Pińczów limestone, beautifully showcases features of both Romanesque and Gothic styles.
