BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Cistercian Abbey in Jędrzejów is a monastery complex located near the sources of Biała Nida. It is the oldest Cistercian abbey in Poland, founded in 1140 by Jaks Gryfin. The Cistercian nuns came here from the Burgundian branch of Morimond. The architectural layout consists of the monastery church, rebuilt in the Gothic and later Baroque periods and the remains of a medieval Cistercian monastery.

The Cistercian Abbey in Jędrzejów is an impressive building. A monumental shape that fits perfectly into the surrounding space. The main attraction are the two towers towering over the buildings, from which the sounds of church bells resound every fifteen minutes. The church dating back to the Baroque period impresses with its richly furnished interiors, including: majestic 18th century organs, stalls and rare frescoes. Outside, traces of the ogival vault of the monastery room - chapter house - have been preserved.

The Cistercian Abbey in Jędrzejów is the main center of religious and cultural life in the area. On August 26, a church fair takes place here, one of the most famous in Ponidzie. The faithful go to the Meeting Mound with the relics of Saint Wincenty Kadłubek. Legend has it that the mentioned mound is the place of Kadłubek's first meeting with the Jędrzejów brothers from the Cistercian monastery. The Cistercian abbey is also a place of integration and spiritual development of young people.
