WHAT WE LOVE OF THIS PLACE
Gueidan Hot Spring is classified as a sodium hydrogen carbonate hot spring, which is called a “Beauty Spring” that can provide multiple benefits to the human body. Gueidan Hot Spring was discovered in the Japanese era. Originated from the Gueidan River, which was originally a wild stream hidden in a valley riverbed, this hot spring also boasts abundant and pristine natural scenery. This area has been transformed into a hot spring resort area in recent years. Its open-air hot spring and beautiful natural scenery attract visitors to stop, take a short break and enjoy the refreshing environment.
THIS PLACE IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE
Guanziling Hot Spring is the hot spring that most people think of when it comes to hot springs in Tainan. The secret bathing spot in Tainan, Gueidan Hot Spring, is only known to a few people. Unlike the crowded and popular mud hot springs in Guanziling, Gueidan Hot Spring is far from the hustle and bustle. The spring area is divided into three sections, including a big foot bath, private bath houses and resting tables and chairs along walking paths. After enjoying the hot spring, people can take a break and enjoy the relaxing ambience under the blue sky.

Common saying
There are two mythologies associated with the name ‘Gueidan.’ One is that the word ‘Gueidan’ means hot spring from the Pepohoan language. Pepohoan, or plain aborigines in Taiwan, are indigenous people who live in lowland regions, not like Highland indigenous people. The other legend is about the tortoise-shaped rock lying by the Gueidan River. In the ancient tale, this rock had tuned into the evil tortoise spirit, which always caused children to drown in the river. The word ‘Gueidan’ means “the remains of the tortoise spirit” in Chinese.
