This Place is Important Because

Carina, a suburb with a rich history, is particularly significant for its Italian community. This community, particularly the Alpini veterans, has left an enduring mark on the area. The Italian community has also enriched Carina's cultural landscape. Italian restaurants, cafes, and bakeries dot the neighborhood, offering a taste of authentic Italian cuisine. These establishments have become popular gathering places for locals and visitors alike, fostering a sense of community and cultural exchange. The Italian influence can also be seen in the architecture of some homes in Carina, with their distinctive Mediterranean style. This legacy of the Italian community continues to shape the character and identity of the suburb. The Abruzzo Association Club House hosts an important monument for the Italian community. This monument commemorates those who fell in war, and act as a gathering place for the Italian community. "This monument was erected in 1984 by the Alpini and the Fogolar Furlan Association of Brisbane in the small square of the Italo Australian Center in Newmarket. In 2011, the monument was moved to Pallara to the headquarters of the Fogolar Furlan. Thanks to the help of Friulian friends, in 2023 the monument was moved again to the Abruzzo Club in Carina as a perpetual memory of the fallen of all wars and as a reference point for the Italian community."
