Dongyong Lighthouse

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Dongyong Lighthouse, located at the extreme eastern end of the Matsu Islands, is like a pure white night pearl shining on the mountainside of Shihwei Mountain. The 13-metre-high white brick tower, built in the style of 18th-century European architecture, stands on a cliff overlooking the azure East China Sea. The Dongyong Lighthouse was built after an accidental shipwreck, and today it serves as a faithful guardian guiding navigation boats and protecting the waters.
