Dongquan Lighthouse

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Dongquan Lighthouse, located northeast of Dongju Island, is a pure white British lighthouse that has withstood the elements for over a century. Built in 1872, the lighthouse stands about 19.5 meters high, constructed from granite and painted white. Against the backdrop of the blue sky and sea, it resembles a pearl on the island.

The light source at the top is refracted by a unique crystal lens shaped like a clam, allowing the light to travel up to 16.7 nautical miles (about 31 kilometers), guiding ships sailing near the Minjiang Estuary.
