It is the perfect environment to meet up with a friend or study alone. Beyond the delicious food and serene setting, what makes Shake Cafe truly special is its ability to blend local Italian flavors with the modern, health-conscious lifestyle. Whether it is the lovely and attentive service or the friendly baristas behind the counters, Shake Cafe is a place that not only nourishes your body but also offers a sense of community and connection.

What We Love About This Place

It was my first morning waking up in Florence. As I walked down Via Cavour, I noticed to my left, a cafe called Shake. The city felt big and overwhelming at first, but when I was greeted with kind smiles and open arms, I felt an immediate sense of relief and comfort. Whether it's Raz the barista, Alessandro the waiter, or Patrick the salad man, they always ask how my day is going, but more importantly, make me feel at home in this new environment. They've memorized my orders, helped me practice my Italian, and never failed to brighten my day. The blend of healthy options and a cozy cafe atmosphere reminds me of my life in LA. I cherish the quiet moments alone in the courtyard and equally enjoy sharing hearty meals with friends after class. There’s truly something special about this cafe that brings me joy, as it has seamlessly become a part of my daily life. I’m so grateful to have found such a welcoming place in the heart of Florence.

Shake Cafe is important because it is the perfect intersection of Italian and American culture. From the smell of espresso and Italian pastries to the sound of English and Italian students' laughter. This place reminds me of Los Angeles with the healthy, modern cafe experience, yet pushes me to immerse myself in the Italian culture by speaking the language to the staff. I always know that within the five locations in Florence, I will have a wonderful experience. The people, the place, and the food nourish my mind, body, and soul. This is important to me as a student studying abroad in Florence because at times I feel overwhelmed and uncomfortable in my new environment. Amid all the change, Shake Cafe provides a comforting balance between the familiar and the foreign, allowing me to feel both grounded and inspired as I navigate life in Florence.
