HISTORICAL NOTES
Cesare Battisti
"Long live Italy! Long live Italian Trent!" these were the words shouted by Cesare Battisti when he was led to the gallows. It was July 12, 1916, when the last great man of the Risorgimento was hanged at the Buonconsiglio Castle in Trent.
Reinhold Messner
Does he fit into the list of famous people of Trentino Alto Adige? Simply because he is the real king of the Trentino peaks. We are talking about one of the most famous climbers not only in Italy, but in the whole world. A person who loves the mountains and loves to challenge his own limits.
Dal bel te ghe roseghi zo poc
The translation is "Beauty alone matters little".
WHAT TO EAT
Canenderli
These are large gnocchi made with stale bread, soaked in milk, then enriched with eggs, aromatic herbs and a sautéed bacon and onion. The name, in fact, would be an Italianization of the German word knödel, which refers to the large size of gnocchi.
Carne Salada
Few people know exactly what carne salada is, often one is faced with pieces of meat, as it were, "masked." Carne salada is actually a valuable and tasty type of meat whose secret lies in the chosen piece: the rump, which is obtained from the back portion of the thigh, and the hip tip, which is nothing more than the rump deprived of an adductor muscle of the dairy cow.
Strudel di mele
Apple strudel (apfelstrudel) is a typical dessert from Trentino Alto Adige, whose origins can be traced back as far as the 17th century. The recipe for this famous dessert was introduced to Italy by the Turks, who ruled Hungary in the 17th century, and is thus derived from another dessert, baklava, which closely resembles our Strudel. The recipe is very dated and clearly has variations and peculiarities depending on the area of production.
Apple strudel then spread to Austria and later to Trentino, where this dessert found fertile ground, becoming almost the signature dessert of the apple kingdom!
